New­berry Main Street Orga­ni­za­tion Board and Com­mit­tee Chairs

Bar­bara Hen­drix — Main Street Man­ager - Exec­u­tive Direc­tor, New­berry Main Street — Due to my dad being in the Air force, I have lived all around the coun­try, like in Selma Alabama for 25 years. I have done a lit­tle bit of every­thing from cat­tle farm­ing to wash­ing glass­ware and scrub­bing floors in a Hos­pi­tal lab­o­ra­tory. I went back to school to become a Med­ical Lab­o­ra­tory Tech­nol­o­gist from George Wal­lace Com­mu­nity Col­lege in Selma, the Uni­ver­sity of Alabama, and clin­i­cal rota­tion at Uni­ver­sity of Alabama in Birm­ing­ham. I moved to Florida in 1990 and worked at Shands Hos­pi­tal at the Uni­ver­sity of Florida in Blood Bank­ing until 2006 and retir­ing from the med­ical tech­nol­ogy field to work in my Screen print­ing and sign busi­ness in New­berry. I am past Vice Pres­i­dent of New­berry Jonesville Cham­ber of Com­merce and. presently I am on the City of New­berry Recre­ation Advi­sory Board, the City of New­berry Eco­nomic Devel­op­ment Board, the City of New­berry Plan­ning and Zon­ing Board which also serves as His­tor­i­cal board and CDBG review task com­mit­tee. After vol­un­teer­ing as Vice Pres­i­dent of New­berry Main Street in 2006 and Pres­i­dent in 2007 and 2008,I have the great priv­i­lege to be the Exec­u­tive Direc­tor of New­berry Main Street Organization.

Anne Maria Bello - Online pro­mo­tions spe­cial­ist– Born in a “Main Street” town of Queens Vil­lage New York, some of my hap­pi­est times as a child were in the town square watch­ing the pup­pet shows with my dad. I have been in New­berry for almost five years, but I love the small town main street qual­ity we have in our neigh­bor­hood. I work with GoNewberry.com and pro­vide host­ing and inter­net adver­tis­ing for many of our small busi­nesses. I love my job, and enjoy going to Des­tiny Com­mu­nity Church, spend­ing time with fam­ily, travel, Sun­day hikes, canoe­ing and motor­cy­cle rid­ing. I am also affil­i­ated with the New­berry Jonesville Cham­ber of Com­merce, as well as ABATE of Alachua.

Alena Law­son — Commissioner/Liaison to the Board

Low­ell Gar­rett, AICP — Plan­ning Direc­tor, — Low­ell Gar­rett came to the City of New­berry at the begin­ning of 2003 after serv­ing 19 years with the North Cen­tral Florida Regional Plan­ning Coun­cil. He is respon­si­ble for Com­pre­hen­sive Plan­ning, Eco­nomic Devel­op­ment Com­mit­tee admin­is­tra­tion, Plan­ning and Zon­ing Board and Board of Adjust­ment admin­is­tra­tion, as well as prepa­ra­tion and imple­men­ta­tion of the City’s Land Devel­op­ment Reg­u­la­tions. Mr. Gar­rett also assists the City’s Code Enforce­ment Divi­sion and the City’s Main Street Pro­gram. Low­ell P.
