Newberry Main Street Organization Board and Committee Chairs
Barbara
Hendrix - President -
Born at Mcdill Air force Base Tampa Florida. My family moved whenever the Air force said to move. In 1970 my dad retired and moved back to Florida. I stayed in Selma Alabama, got married and went to work at one of the hospitals in the area as a Lab Assistant. I went back to school to become a Medical Laboratory Technologist from George Wallace Community College, the University of Alabama, and University of Alabama in Birmingham. I moved back to Florida in 1990 and worked at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida in Blood Banking until 2005. I retired from the medical field to work in my Screen printing and sign business. I am on the City of Newberry Recreation Advisory Board, currently the Vice President of the Newberry Jonesville Chamber of Commerce, and newly elected Newberry Main Street President. I am looking forward to this new year for the Newberry Main Street.
Pastor Natron Curtis - Vice President -
Christy Rutan - Treasurer -
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to Gainesville in 1973. With the exception of 10 years worth of moving around the country as an Air Force wife, I have lived in this area ever since! As a UF grad, the daughter of a UF dental professor and mother of a UF grad, I am a major Gator fan and fully invested in this area. Most of my career has been in the banking field and I am currently the Branch Manager of the Tioga Branch of Millennium Bank. I love this area and am thoroughly enjoying working with my friends in Newberry and meeting new friends in the area.
Amy Dalusio - Secretary -
I have lived in Newberry since 2003. Happily married with 2 teenage daughters, I attend Family Church of God, and enjoy working on the Promotions Committee, and for the City of Newberry.
Anne
Maria Alfano - Promotions Comittee Chairperson, Organization Web Master, and web promotions specialist- Born in a "Main Street" town of Queens Village
New York, some of my happiest times as a child were in the town square watching
the puppet shows with my dad. I have been in Newberry for only two years,
but I love the small town main street quality we have in our neighborhood.
I work
with GoNewberry.com and
provide hosting and internet advertising for many of our small businesses.
I love my job, and enjoy going to Destiny Community Church, spending time with family, travel, Sunday hikes,
canoeing and motorcycle riding. I am also affiliated with the Newberry Jonesville Chamber of Commerce, ABATE of Alachua, and the Alachua Business League.
Commissioner Bill Conrad - Economic Restructuring Chairperson - I served as a Police Officer and an EMT in Gainesville in the late 60s and early
70s. I graduated from UF in 1972 and joined the Air Force as a Navigator. I flew
in Southeast Asia, Africa and Antarctica. I saw combat in Panama, Somalia and
Bosnia. I also flew as a Navigator in the “Air Force One” squadron, traveling
with President and Mrs. Reagan and Vice President Bush.
In the later part of my 27 year career in the Air Force I became more involved
in leadership. I commanded a squadron of over 500 aircraft maintenance technicians
and operated multimillion-dollar budgets. I served tours as commander of Logistics
Support, and Inspector General.
I retired from the Air Force in 2000 as a Lieutenant Colonel and came back to
Santa Fe Community College to take courses in Building Construction. I got a
Contractor’s license in 2003 and started Bill Conrad Construction Inc. in Newberry.
My wife, Martha, and I have been married for 34 years. She’s the school nurse
at Newberry High School. We have two children, Bryan who is a Biomedical Engineer
and Annie who is a Neonatal Nurse; both are married and work at Shands.
We are all actively involved at Westside Baptist Church. Last year I went with
a group from our Church to Hattiesburg, MS to do hurricane disaster relief.
I enjoy my work with businesses and the Florida Main Street Grant to revitalize
downtown
and historic areas. I am involved in working with DOT to resolve traffic congestion
on
SR
26,
Promoting programs for our seniors, and insuring the municipal infrastructure
grows
ahead of development.
